Lithuanian State Historical Archives (LVIA)
Contact Information and Research Information:
The LVIA no longer does personal research. They will make copies of specific records pertaining to your ancestors for a nominal fee.
This archive contains pre-1940 vital records, some Revision Lists and Family Lists, and various other types of records including a small number of pre-1914 internal passport records. All of the Jewish vital records (over 500,000) were filmed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS - Mormons) except those vital records (250,000) transferred to LVIA from the Lithuanian Central Civil Metrical Archives in January 2002. These transferred records are mainly for 1922-1939 but some date back to 1881.
